Cold sores are those seemingly harmful white and tiny blisters on the corner of your lips whenever you are just about to give your presentation or talk your boss about a raise. Later that morning, you'll see that blister that grown into a sore that makes you so annoyed that it ruined your day. Dr. Evan Bell of Lenox Hill Hospital in New York says that cold sores are caused by the triggered herpes simplex virus I that slumbers around certain nerve cells in our body. Waking up the virus is bouts of stress and cold and even over exposure to sun. Unlike canker sore, cold sores appear and manifest in the corner of the lips and are contagious. To relieve you off discomfort caused by cold sores, health experts recommend patting on a petroleum-based product directly to the area and even taking painkillers.
